TERMS OF USE
These terms of use ("Terms") outline the rules and guidelines for accessing and using the ESVD. By accessing or using the ESVD, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not access or use the ESVD.

Permitted Use
The ESVD is intended for non-commercial, research, and educational purposes aimed at supporting more sustainable ecosystem management and policy-making. You may access and use the ESVD data solely for these purposes. Commercial use of the ESVD data is subject to separate terms and conditions as outlined below.
2. Attribution
If you use ESVD data in reports or publications, you must make them publicly available and properly cite the source using the following format:
"Brander, L.M., de Groot, R., Guisado Goñi, V., van 't Hoff, V., Schägner, P., Solomonides, S., McVittie, A., Eppink, F., Sposato, M., Do, L., Ghermandi, A., and Sinclair, M. (2023). Ecosystem Services Valuation Database (ESVD). Foundation for Sustainable Development and Brander Environmental Economics."
3. Restrictions

You may not modify, distribute, transmit, or create derivative works based on the ESVD data without prior written consent from FSD.

You may not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software used in connection with the ESVD.

You may not remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices contained in the ESVD data.
4. Commercial Use
Commercial use of ESVD data is subject to separate terms and conditions. Users intending to utilize ESVD data for commercial purposes must report such usage and become a strategic partner of ESVD. Strategic partners will be acknowledged on the ESVD website and may collaborate in projects and presentations. The Foundation for Sustainable Development reserves the right to refuse commercial use of ESVD data at its discretion.
5. Compliance with Dutch Law
While the Ecosystem Services Valuation Database (ESVD) aims to be a global representation of ecosystem services valuation data, it is important to note that the Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) is based in the Netherlands. As such, all users of ESVD are required to comply with Dutch law regarding data usage, including but not limited to privacy laws and intellectual property rights. Users acknowledge that any disputes arising from the use of ESVD shall be governed by Dutch law and subject to the jurisdiction of Dutch courts.
6. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the Foundation for Sustainable Development, its affiliates, agents, or collaborators be liable for any damages, including without limitation, direct or indirect, special or incidental, moral or consequential, arising in connection with your use of the ESVD, its information, or derivatives thereof.
7. Modification of Terms
The Foundation for Sustainable Development reserves the right to modify these terms of use at any time without prior notice. Users are responsible for regularly reviewing the terms for any updates or changes.
